Combining the amenities of a major metropolitan area with the friendliness of a small, western city, Salt Lake City is an ideal location for the IATDMCT Congress. A beautiful, safe, and vibrant city, Salt Lake combines unparalleled access to natural recreation, a bustling economy, dynamic nightlife, remarkable history, and warm hospitality.

Location:Salt Lake City is located in northern Utah and sits in a large valley between two mountain ranges, the Wasatch on the east side and the Oquirrhs to the west. Since hosting the 2002 Olympic Games, Salt Lake has shined and continues to showcase the city’s profile as a destination to visit.

There is no end to the opportunities to discover something new and exciting in Salt Lake City. With 21 National Parks and Monuments within a few hours’ drive, Salt Lake is the perfect gateway for some of the world’s most acclaimed outdoor escapades. Closer to home base, Salt Lake City claims to be the Genealogy Capitol of the World, and has the facilities to back it up. The Family History Library is the largest library of it’s kind in the world, with access to over 2.4 million rolls of microfilmed genealogical records. The perfect place to start discovering your family history with access to millions of worldwide records!

Utah is truly nature’s playground—and Salt Lake is the perfect base camp. Just minutes from downtown, starting in downtown, or up in the mountains (which is also just minutes from downtown), you’ll find hiking and biking trails to help you get back to nature. Even if you aren’t an avid outdoor enthusiast, take time to add one of these short trails to your Salt Lake experience – you’ll be glad you did.
